Starting this week Sarcan has replaced the old roll-style lamb doner with a more premium Shwarma-type product. I can confirm it is excellent.

'Lara' have likewise ditched the Lamb mince doner for "Yaprak Donner".

It is OK but does not compare favourably to 'Best Mangal'.

It is getting harder and harder to find a truly great roll style doner in London. Sad

'The Best Turkish Kebab' and 'Acton Hill Kebab & Grill' spring to mind as the best currently operating that I have recently visited.

Slightly below are Ealing's 'Brothers Kebabs' and 'West Kebab' doner mix recipes.

I will have to find out if 'Bosphorus' of South Kensington still do it "old style"...

I still believe 'Andy's' and 'Dionysus' had the best lamb doner mixes I have ever tried, both now gone - but not forgotten.

Any current places you would rate highly, Jim?

Dionysus has never been beaten in my view - sarcan's old recipe was superb and I can only hope they ressurect it at some point

As you say it's getting difficult to find a great roll-type doner in London.

We must hook up at Sarcan, I've yet to try. If it's anywhere near as good as Dionysus then it'll be worth the trip!
